Did you know that Rule 103.8 regulates the payment of overtime
for staff members? Staff Rule 103.8
establishes that supervisors may require staff members in the general
services category to work in excess of normal working hours when the
needs of the service so demand. Definition and considerations: § Overtime shall be
any time worked in excess of the normal work week. § Only in
exceptional circumstances shall staff members be required to work on more
than one weekend day. § Staff members in
the general services category who are required to work overtime shall be
compensated at the rate of 1-1/2 times their regular hourly pay. However, any
single period of overtime of less than half an hour shall be disregarded. § The compensation
referred to in the preceding Section may be given in the form of time off for
the number of hours worked. This compensatory time must be taken within 30
days following the date on which the overtime was worked. However, for
justifiable reasons and with the approval of the Supervisor, the compensatory
time may be taken within the following six months. § In no case shall
overtime be paid to staff members of the professional category, and they
shall be entitled to compensatory time off only when they work on the
holidays specified in Rule 101.2. For more
