DOMESTIC PARTNER TASK FORCE
The
Staff Committee of the OAS General Secretariat would like to inform all
staff members that recently a group of Staff Members gathered under the
auspices of the Staff Association to establish a Task Force to initiate
discussions on new developments in the DC area and at various
international organizations headquartered in this city (and at the
United Nations system in general), regarding institutional policies
towards recognition of benefits for employees in same sex domestic
partnerships or marriages.
The
goal of this newly formed group is to compile all available information
on the matter in order to properly and sufficiently inform the
administration in this regard and to advocate for staff rights, so that
the OAS can catch up with other international organizations’ practices
in this field as it is attempting to do with respect to other human
resources management issues.
On
behalf of this new group, the Staff Committee would like to invite
employees of the Organization who have experience, knowledge or
interest in equal rights for same sex couples to join the efforts of
the above mentioned Task Force.
Since the goal is to be able to submit the results of the discussions
and research by the end of June, 2010, we ask you to contact Task Force
members
Luiz Marcelo Azevedo /
Alejandro Aristizábal as soon as possible.
