Cuban Icon Silvio Rodriguez Will Play in the Nation’s Capital
Cuban Music Legend Silvio Rodriguez has confirmed
concert on June 19 at 7:30 P.M. (EST) in DAR
Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. The United States has
approved Rodriguez’s visa for the first time in 30-years, in an
attempt to better U.S.-Cuba relations.
For the first time in his career, 63-year-old Rodriguez
will play in concert in Washington, D.C. Tickets will go on
sale to the general public May 28 at 10:00 A.M. (EST) through
Ticketmaster. He will be featuring his latest album Segunda
Cita (Second Date).
Rodriguez is the creator of the music style Nueva Trova
Cubana (New Cuban Trova), a music movement that emerged in the
mid-1960s blending traditional folk music with progressive and
insightful lyrics. This music style along with his creator have
influenced generations across the world for almost four
decades.
Rodriguez is an active human rights advocate.
