Update on the calendar of competitions and reclassifications The 2017-2018 Staff Committee has closely followed the
calendar of competitions and reclassifications. In this regard, it wishes to
inform staff of the processes that are being conducted in accordance with the
Work Plan of the Department of Human Resources. ·
Regulatory Competitions: These
competitions are being carried out in accordance with the following articles
of the General Standards, Staff Rules and Resolutions of the General
Assembly: - Article 20 (e) of the General
Standards: Staff members with Series A
contracts financed by the Regular Fund; - Staff Rule 103.7 (e): Staff members receiving subsidies for special functions; - Article 23 of the General Standards: executive staff posts; and - AG / Res. 1 (L-E / 15): Director of the Department of Information and Technology Services. ·
Competitions for Vacant Posts: This includes
competitive processes for positions financed by the Regular Fund and by
Specific Funds. Current Situation ·
Regulatory Competitions: The 2016 -
2017 Work Plan included 58 processes, of which two of these were
canceled. As of January 12, 37 processes have been completed; 10 are in
one or another of the stages of recruitment and selection process; one will
be cancelled; and eight have yet to be published. ·
Competitions
for Vacant Posts: Out of a total of 40 competitions for vacant posts,
21 have been completed, 17 are in one or another of the stages of competitive
recruitment and selection, and two were canceled. In 2017, it was not possible to complete all the processes
included in the Work Plan of the Department of Human Resources, and thus, the
Permanent Council approved an extension of the term included in the
transitional provision provided in Article 20 (e) until December 31, 2018. The Staff Committee recognizes the work completed by the
Department of Human Resources and that of the Advisory Committee on Selection
and Promotions in completing 58 competitive processes. It is worth mentioning
that the allocation of additional funds in the last quarter of the year for
this effort was an important factor in achieving these results. In 2018, in addition to completing the processes already
underway, 15 reclassifications will also begin and an additional number of competitions
for vacancies are planned, including filling the post of the Ombudsperson
following AG/RES. 1 (LII-E/17) Program-Budget of the Organization for 2018
(provision 23.b). The Staff Committee hopes that the Department of Human
Resources will be provided sufficient resources in 2018 and reiterates its
support for these important initiatives that benefit the staff of the General
Secretariat. |
