Update on the competition for the position of the Director of
the Department of Human Resources The Staff Committee wishes to inform personnel that the
competition for the position of the Director of the Department of Human
Resources is in process in compliance with the Judgment 165 of the
Administrative Tribunal, which establishes the necessity of conducting the
competition through an external recruitment firm as soon as possible. Last year, the previous Staff Committee (2016-2017)
provided a list of 10 recruitment companies to the Secretary General, Luis
Almagro. On August 28, 2017, the Secretary General requested that the
2017-2018 Staff Committee recommend from this list a company to provide the
services required to identify a new Director of Human Resources. The
Committe selected five of the 10 companies to be interviewed. The interviews lasted approximately one hour and took place
in person in OAS Headquarters or via Skype. Steven Griner (President), Adam
Siegel (Treasurer) and Beatriz Santos (Alternate Representative - Pension
Fund) participated in all five interviews. Luiz Marcelo Azevedo (Vice
President) and Magali Santos (Alternate Treasurer) were present in some. The members of the Committee sought to evaluate the
companies using the following five criteria: 1) relevant experience in
recruiting for an international organization in the field of human resources;
2) presence of these companies in the OAS member States; 3) price schedule;
4) time needed to select the candidate; and 5) other intangibles. Of the five companies interviewed, the Staff Committee
recommended DHR International. The Secretary General accepted this
recommendation and contracted the company, which is presently collecting
applications for the position. The Staff Committee continues to maintain
contact with the Secretary General and the Chief of Staff, Amb. Gonzalo
Koncke, regarding this important activity. |
