A Thank you Note for Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda; and Mexico
Relief Effort The Staff Committee wishes to express its sincere
appreciation to all those who contributed to the relief funds established for
Antigua and Barbuda and the Commonwealth of Dominica in the aftermath of
Hurricanes Maria and Irma, and for Mexico after the earthquake on September
19, 2017. The devastation in the wake of these natural disasters is
truly unprecedented and the needs of the people of these OAS countries are
tremendous, if not overwhelming. Including the contributions of the OAS Staff Federal Credit
Union, we are pleased to inform you that we raised a total of $6,068.25. We
take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to the OAS Credit
Union #OASFCU for its generosity. On October 6, using the funds collected for the fund for
Dominica($2,397.27), OAS Staff members purchased baby supplies, in addition to those that were donated, to be shipped to the Commonwealth on October 7. On October 18, we presented a check of $2,135.37 to the Permanent Representative of
Antigua and Barbuda, Ambassador Sir Ronald Sanders, who confirmed in writing
that the funds were deposited in the National Relief Fund. Lastly, on October 27, we presented a check of $1,535.61 to
the #FuerzaMexico relief fund of the Inter-American Development Bank, which
will be matched dollar for dollar by the IDB. This contribution has
brought the IDB closer to its goal of raising a total of $100,000 for
reconstruction and relief efforts in Mexico. These
contributions serve as an important symbol of our solidarity with the people
we serve in their time of need. Thank you for your kind contribution. |
