REQUEST FOR THE CHILDREN OF HAITI
Schools
across the Americas celebrate the International Children’s Day with
various festivities, but the daily realities with which countless
children are faced is no cause to celebrate.
Forty
percent of boys and girls in the Americas attend school standing up, due
to the lack of resources for purchasing desks. Even direr is the
absence of art materials, which in many cases means that art is no
longer a priority in the school system.
The Art
Group of the Staff Association issues a call to the employees of the
General Secretariat and members of the Missions to the OAS to help this
cause by donating art materials for a school in Haiti.
Perhaps
there is a box of crayons that your children do not use, some gently
used paintbrushes or coloring books. Any material is welcome.
The collection of
donations of art materials has been extended until
June 16. For this purpose
the Art Group has placed a box at the cafeteria of the General
Secretariat Building (GSB).

PEDIDO PARA LOS NINOS DE HAITI
Las escuelas en el continente americano celebran el Día Internacional
del Niño con varios acontecimientos festivos, pero su realidad diaria no
es para celebrar.
El 40 por ciento de niños y niñas reciben clases de pie, por la falta de
recursos que impide comprar pupitres. Más grave aún es la ausencia de
materiales de arte, por lo que en muchos casos, el arte deja de ser una
prioridad en el sistema fiscal de educación.
El Grupo de Arte de la Asociación del Personal, hace un llamado a los
funcionarios de la Secretaria General, los miembros de las Misiones ante
la OEA para que ayuden en la causa de dotar de material de arte para una
escuela en Haití.
Estamos seguros que usted encontrará una cajita de crayones que sus
niños ya no utilizan, unos pinceles usados, cuadernos para colorear.
Cualquier material será bien recibido.
La colección
de material artístico se ha extendido hasta el
16 de junio. Para este
propósito, el Grupo de Arte ha colocado una caja en la cafetería del
GSB.
