TRIBUTE TO AMBASSADOR VAL T. McCOMIE,
 FORMER ASSISTANT SECRETARY GENERAL
OF THE ORGANIZATION OF AMERICAN STATES

The OAS Staff Association was deeply saddened to learn of the death of
Ambassador Val T. McComie and extends its profound condolences to
Mrs. McComie and her family. 

To all of us who worked with him and admired him, Ambassador Val T. McComie
was a stalwart of high principle and a rock of great integrity in often stormy seas.
He was a man born in a time and place that gave him a personal and
public stature that will rarely be seen again. 

We cherish the memory of a man who was the essence of kindness
and fairness to the staff of this organization that he so loved.  We mourn his loss.
